Sad but true. Many of you asked for non-holiday themed cards which can be used on rainy days, bad mood and such special days as April 15th (if you don't care about this date - you don't live is the USA).

Here I am stepping into a risky ground. Cute smiling bear Bamse loves honey, flowers and skis - that's all I can write because I don't know a word in Swedish. Okay, I suspect "Vykort" is Swedish for "postcard" but who knows... I hope anyone here knows about those really superb cartoons and can tell us something interesting about it.

7. More info about viruses and Y2K

We've got lots of feedback re: this subject in MP News #31. It appears that for many of you topic of Net viruses is new and you want to know more about this issue.

----------------------------------------!! reader speaks !!
It really ticks me off that this is happening. I'm not that familiar with computer lingo but I do know this "virus" makes me question everything (no offense meant) even e-mail e-card sites. What makes your site immune to a "virus"? ** bluesky@muskoka.com

To make it short - "My Postcards Network" does not run on Windows. All those common and scary viruses like Melissa and Daddy can not affect our UNIX servers. UNIX OS in general and our software in particular are fully year 2000 compliant as well (it's simply not an issue here).

Card notification mails (plain text) and postcard pages (HTML) are produced on our servers. Those formats (*.txt and *.html) are not subjected to any computer and network viruses.

OUR postcards are safer than your coffee-pot! Garanteed!

A note from Helmut:

Be extremely cautious about any mail that has attachements. If you receive mail that takes a long time to download, or if you spot an attachement that is an *.exe type file, then you better immediately shut down all running programs and run your Virus checker. *.exe files themselves are harmless, however they are the CARRIER of viruses.

Just like not every gun is loaded, not all *.exe files sent to you carry a virus. If you have friends who send you mail with attachements instead of proper postcards, then you better have a boot disk with a good virus cleaner handy.

You can download Mcafee's Free Trial Virus protection software from http://www.mcafee.com/
