Labor Day was first celebrated on Tuesday, Sept 5, 1882, in New York City. Did you know that the date was chosen to bridge the long gap between Independence Day and Thanksgiving? Good thinking, if you ask me. LOL!

I recently read a piece doing the email rounds on "Do you remember when ..." and one of the very precious memories it brought back were those summer evenings as a child, running around with my glass jar, catching fireflies. I tried to find some firefly cards but have been unable to find any. ** Margaret

This new posty site features gorgeous photography of nature and endangered animals. I think the photo of the cheetah cub is my favorite.
